Susan Pedens Abalone Rose

The best fingerpicking,or flatpicking guitars available!

After years of working on and hearing large body steel strings I came to the conclusion that I don't like the big bassy sound. Even the higher strings have a bass overtone to them

To get a good bass and clear trebles was my goal!

While making hundreds of guitars I found the bracing that gave me the sound I was after. This gave a nice rich bass and excellent trebles and a boost in volume also. The body shape used for these guitars is the same as for my classicals.

PLAYERS find these guitars easy to hold and play. This size comes standard with a 12 fret neck. A 14 fret neck is available with slightly larger body dimensions (38 cm by 50 cm).

The players using these guitars and the people hearing them are amazed at the warmth and volume that is available from a smaller size guitar.

All steel string tops have a 25' radius! The top is spherical in shape. This adds strength! This shape top also helps when the humidity is low and wood shrinks. This type of top will be less likely to crack. All the steel string necks receive a double truss rod that is able to remove a warp or backbow from a neck.

All steel string necks are Mahogany. I use Maple or Cherry at a players request. Scale lengths available are 24 3/4", 25", 25.4", 25.5", 25.7" and a classical 650mm.

Fingerboards can be Ebony or Rosewood. Pearl or Brass dots are used for the side position markers at the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 12th(2), 15th and 17th.

A light in weight Rosewood bridge is standard. Ebony is also available at no extra charge. A 5mm wide compensated bone saddle is used to insure great intonation along with perfect fret placement.

There are many options for steels
